The Future of Installation Guides is BILT in 3D
I was recently at the International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, and I love to look for digital marketing and technology innovations within the industry. I came across a company called BILT, and their solution is the future of install guides.
I stood there demo’ing the app in awe. Mainly because of the solution itself, but I also couldn’t stop thinking, “This is genius and so simple. Why didn’t I think of it!” I’ve done many animated installation videos, and this takes that concept and simplifies it for every pro and DIY’er out there.
BILT creates 3D models your products and components, and builds a step-by-step guide on how to install that product.
No pausing the video. No rewinding to watch that 10 seconds again. No fast-forwarding to find that one step you need somewhere within the 10 minute installation video.
As a user, you simply download the app and find the product you want to install. It immediately tells you the number of steps, the tools you’ll need and estimated time to complete the install. Animated graphics show you exactly how to complete each step. Plus, you can zoom in and rotate around the images to get a closer look at any part or section of the installation.

It improves the customer experience. BILT provides a simple intuitive way for contractors and homeowners to interact with your installation instructions. People hate reading. This is why installation videos are so critical. BILT takes an installation video to the next level by cutting into small snippets and making those sections interactive. So any way to improve the installation instruction process is worth testing. We all want less callbacks, right?
